Couscous has 100 to 120 calories per cooked half cup, along with complex carbohydrates, B vitamins, and minerals. Whole-wheat couscous also contains 3 grams of fiber, lots of phosphorus, potassium, and zinc.

- 1 medium head cabbage
- 2 small onions
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar

- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon celery seed
- 1 cup salad oil

- Shred cabbage, and slice onions, separating into rings. Place alternating layers in a large bowl, and cover with the cup of sugar.
- Bring to a boil the vinegar, teaspoon of sugar, mustard, salt and celery seed, then add salad oil and bring to boil again.
- Pour mixture over cabbage and onions. Cover tightly and let stand 24 hours in refrigerator.
